New Moon in Virgo: Craving Stability?

I’m back in Brooklyn, writing this note to you from my couch. It’s starting to feel like Fall! There’s a chill in the air, I snagged apples at the farmers market, and I maaaay or may not have thought about throwing on a flannel shirt (it’s cold in my apartment, promise!).

I’m feeling into the vibes of a new cycle, echoed by tomorrow's (9/17) new moon in Virgo, exact at 7am E.T.

New moons occur when the sky is dark. It’s a chance for new beginnings, which makes now the perfect time to set intentions and plant seeds for what you want to call in and create.

This new moon is in Virgo, which suggests that it's time to get organized. To (re)create structure in your life as summer ends. To ground.

On a micro level…

Virgo represents daily tasks

Where can you tie up loose odds and ends in your day to day life? Have you been focused on big tasks and changes, overlooking the little things? Has your routine fallen by the wayside?

Virgo represents health and the body

Did you put off doctor’s appointments due to summer and social distancing? If you feel comfortable doing so, now’s a great time to make sure you’re up to date!

Virgo represents self care

In true 2020 form, there is a LOT going on. The election is looming and the West is on fire. (And that seems to only be half of it.) Some of you may be going back into the office, too. What are you doing to take care of yourself? Can you pencil in some me-time, or spend some time in nature? Can you allow yourself an extra hour of sleep one or two nights this week?

Virgo represents personal growth + self improvement

A lot of my clients lately have come to me with the same line of questions–– Where do I go from here? What’s next for me? There’s a natural inclination during Virgo season to turn our attention inwards, and self-analyze. Now is a great time to ask yourself, “How am I holding myself back? As we near the last chunk of 2020 (!!), what do I want to let go of? How do I want to grow and expand?”

Virgo represents being of service

At least on the east coast, the temperatures are dropping and the days are getting shorter. What can you do to stay connected to others? How can you support your friends and loved ones, or even complete strangers? Being of service, whether through volunteering, donating money, or even holding the door for someone is a wonderful way to remember we’re all in this together.

BONUS: If you want to see how/where this new moon will affect you personally, look at which house (pizza slice) 25 degrees of Virgo falls in.

And on a more macro level...

This new moon in Virgo requires a sense of humility. It asks us to look at things the way they are now, and identify how we can make them better. It’s important to do this with discernment, however. Virgo energy can cause us to go too far and veer into perfectionism territory. There’s a difference between perception and self-judgment or criticism.

Plus, a healthy dose of personal growth and desire for improvement is a wonderful way to prepare yourself for Libra season (starting September 23rd!). Because when we get clear on where and how we are without, or lacking, we open ourselves up to partnership. We ready ourselves for collaboration, seeking balance through a blend of our own and other’s strengths.

Are you ready for this new moon? I know I am… because I’m moving out of my apartment (and out of NYC!) in the coming weeks! It’s time to get organized, make a plan, check those final doctor’s appointments off the list, figure out where I need help, and make sure I’m taking the time to stay grounded during the madness.

Big hug. x
